Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Students in Sra. Marquez’s 7th grade Spanish class at Bates Middle School learned about the significance of this holiday to Hispanics living in the United States. Students worked together a on a STEAM project to create a hallway poster to celebrate and increase awareness. Bates has two Spanish classes that teach three levels of Spanish using the South Carolina World Language Novice Standards.
